Use These Tips to Stress Proof Your Move

You’ve decided to build a new home with MW Design and Construction.  Soon you will be living in the home of your dreams.  However, there will be some stressful times as you move to your new residence.  Here are some tips to help make the road to your new home less rocky.

Give Yourself Time

If it is possible, allow yourself at least eight weeks to prepare for your move. This time frame gives time to take care of all the details you need to with a minimal amount of stress.

Clear Out the Clutter

This is a good step to get the moving process rolling.  It will give you some added momentum to know that you won’t be moving with items that you don’t need in your new location. In addition, this process helps you leave the past behind and move onto your future.

Get Organized

It will reduce the stress if you make a list of everything that needs to be done to prepare for the move.  Once your list is complete, plan a weekly schedule of which items you will do each week.

Ask For Help

It may be difficult to ask for assistance, but most people have been through the same process and understand what you are going through.  Ask friends and family if they can share a few hours of help.

Go With the Flow

No matter how organized and prepared you are, your moving train will inevitably go off the tracks at some point during your trip.  Take the unexpected in stride.  Allowing for some wiggle room will ensure that you can adjust and feel calm even when chaos abounds.

Be Prepared to Feel Uprooted

You will be living in chaos for a good part of the process.  When it becomes overwhelming, remember that you have done the work, and you will soon be in the home of your dreams.
